Captain Mike Broussard of the Corsair values life along the Gulf Coast. As a Cajun and a
boat builder, he understands life along the coast and works to ensure that guests aboard
his hand-built, wooden schooner enjoy a boating experience they won't soon forget. Watching dolphins and eating
fresh seafood on a traditional wooden boat adds to the slow, southern lifestyle he appreciates. Captain Mike has
been able to enjoy these pleasures his whole life and now shares the experience with those who come aboard and cruise with him on the beautiful Corsair.
Born into a traditional Cajun family, Captain Mike's ancestry of fishermen and shipwrights can
be traced back to Nova Scotia in the early 1500's. His childhood was spent immersed in the boat building and shrimping industries along the Gulf Coast of
Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas. Working alongside his father, Mike was trained in the business of shrimping
and boating. He built his first sailing vessel when he was nine years old, and refined his skills as a boat designer as he grew older. In 1976, he began construction on his first "Biloxi schooner". Two
years later, this boat was launched as the Corsair. Captain Mike now looks forward to sharing a
glimpse into a traditional Cajun way of life with all those who wish to share in the experience.
Book your trip and come aboard the Corsair while vacationing in Orange Beach, Gulf Shores, or the
surrounding Gulf Coast area. Dine on delicious fresh seafood while dolphins splash alongside the boat's
hull. This Cajun boat builder invites you to experience the feeling of an original
schooner's wooden deck on the soles of your bare feet!
